FORMER Hythe & Dibden boss and AFC Totton coach Lee Burch has been named as the new head coach of Women’s Super League club Yeovil Town Ladies.

He replaces Jamie Sherwood, who stood down as Glovers boss at the end of last season when Yeovil finished bottom of League One.

Yeovil will become a full-time, professional side for 2018/19 and take their place in a revamped top flight.

Burch boasts impressive credentials, having been named as League Managers’ Association manager-of-the-year for the Women’s Super League Division 2.

It followed a fine season with Millwall Lionesses who finished in third spot.

Burch, who had been with the Lionesses since 2016, said of Yeovil: "The club has many of the key values I look for in myself, the players I work with and the staff, and this was key to my decision.

"I cannot wait to get into the full-time environment and with the new WSL structure. I believe it's going to be an exciting time for the club, staff, players and supporters."

Thanking Burch for his efforts, the Lionesses said: “Millwall can confirm manager Lee Burch has left the club.

“Everyone at the club would like to thank Lee for all his hard work during his time as manager and for taking the club on a 19-game unbeaten league run and taking the club to our highest ever finish in the WSL 2 of third place.”

Steve Allinson, chairman of Yeovil Town Ladies FC, commented: "Lee demonstrated in our interview process how much he shared the values we cherish and our long-term development vision.

"We look forward to working with him and building together on and off the field.”
