ANDOVER Town have appointed Ron Bertie and Jason Holmes as their management team for 2018/19.

The north Hampshire club – Sydenhams Premier runners-up last term– are having to start afresh in Division One after doing a U-turn on promotion to the Southern League having lost key officials and sponsors.

New boss Bertie has experience in the professional game, both as a player and coach, with his most recent experiences gained at AFC Bournemouth.

“As a UEFA B licensed coach, he has the expertise to develop the talented footballers that will form the football side for next season,” said a Town statement.

Assistant manager Holmes is a successful coach in junior football and with the Southampton FC academy and is similarly qualified with the UEFA B licence.

Stephen Horrobin, one of the ATFC directors, said: “After a challenging summer, we are delighted to capture the signings of two highly qualified and talented coaches.

“They will help us develop local talent and ensure we provide a sustainable model that will balance ambition, success and the development of youth.

“I, for one, cannot wait to stand on the terraces of the Portway next year cheering the side on.”
