ALRESFORD Town’s ten-game unbeaten league and cup run was brought to an end by Sholing on Saturday.

Having banged six past Team Solent two days previously, Sholing continued their fine goalscoring form with a 4-1 Sydenhams Premier win.

A largely forgettable first half livened up in added time when Sholing’s Dan Miller headed in Owen Royl’s corner.

Miller’s central defensive partner Pete Castle then volleyed in from 18 yards for 2-0 before Owen Roundell hit the post with a penalty.

That miss could have proved costly when Tom Richards pulled a goal back, but Sholing went up a gear with Dan Mason scoring twice to take his season’s tally to 30.

Alresford tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm) host Southern League outfit Fleet Town in the North Hants Senior Cup quarter-finals.

Sholing visit Fareham Town in the league this evening (Monday, 7.45pm).
