A FOOT and cycleway along Millbrook Road West is set to be resurfaced from Regents Park junction to Paynes Road.

Work will be carried out overnight on weekdays from December 4 for up to three weeks.

Starting from the western end of Paynes Road under the flyover, work will progress west along Millbrook Road West up to the Regents Park traffic light junction.

The works are being carried out at night because they require the closure of the foot and cycleway in sections and the closure of Paynes Road and Millbrook Road West for the first seven nights.

As part of phase one Paynes Road from Waterloo Road up to Millbrook Station will be closed to allow access for materials and machinery.

Work is planned to take one week to complete, working overnight between 8pm and 6am, Monday to Friday.

The diversion route for vehicles is via Shirley Road and Regents Park Road.

The diversion route for pedestrians and cyclists will be along the north side of Paynes Road and via the footbridge for Millbrook Station

Phase two requires the continued overnight closure of Paynes Road for the first two nights, plus the closure of Millbrook Road West foot and cycleway and lane one, from Millbrook Station up to Regents Park junction.

Work is planned to take seven nights to complete, working between 10pm and 6am, Monday to Friday.

The diversion route for vehicles for the first two nights is via Shirley Road and Regents Park Road. The diversion route for pedestrians and cyclists is to the north side of Millbrook Road West and via the footbridge at Millbrook Station.

The official diversion for cyclists then goes via Freemantle and Regents Park Road.

During these works, some areas of kerb repairs and the removal of an unneeded guard rail on Millbrook Road West are being carried out.

The work is being carried out by Balfour Beatty and Southampton City Council
