A FORMER Liberal Democrat will be representing the English Democrats at the upcoming by-election.
Michael Walters has been announced as its candidate for the contest on February 28.
A committed Anglican and Royal British Legion member, Mr Walters is the English Democrats’ current Kent county chairman.
Mr Walters is an ex-Liberal Democrat constituency party chairman and election agent, who says he left the party in 2002 after being told by his former party to remove the word ‘Christian’ from his county council leaflet.
He says he was also concerned by what he saw as its growing anti-English stance.
Alongside being a member of the Royal British Legion Riders Branch and a poppy tin distributor, he has been a Christian Aid doorstep collector for the past 20 years, a parochial church council member and a Churches Together representative.
