There is method behind the 'madness'.

That is the message that Howlin Laud Hope who is standing for the Official Monster Raving Loony Party wants to say to voters in the Eastleigh By-election.

Alan Hope wants to change the name of Southampton Airport to the Benny Hill Airport and also wants to create some free car parking charges.

Alan Hope, 70, started the Looney party with Screaming Lord Sutch in 1982, and was chairman and deputy leader and Hope remembers when Nigel Farage beat the Looney Party when first standing for UKIP by only 169 votes in 1994.

Being in politics on a local level is something that Laud Hope has enjoyed. In 1987 he was elected to Ashburton town council in Devon, and held his seat there for 13 years. He even became Town Mayor, Chairman of the Council and a Lord of the Borough.

Now Lord Hope who is a great grandfather of three and lives in Fleet left one message for Eastleigh voters.

He said: “So good people of Eastleigh don't get confused with Labour, Conservative, Liberal or any other pretenders. Vote for the real Loony Party.”
