AN architect planner is to contest the Eastleigh MP seat on behalf of the Wessex Regionalists.

Colin Bex, 73, from Winchester, will stand in the Eastleigh by-election on February 28 – the seventh seat he has contested for Wessex since 1977.

The Wessex Regionalists formed in 1980 and support grass roots, proportionally democratic local government instead of what it calls “unwarranted centralised diktat handed down by successive London party minority Westminster govern-ments”.

Mr Bex, who has worked in the public and private sector and abroad, is currently president of the Wessex Regionalists.

The party’s key aims include protecting farming, vital industries, utilities and public services to be owned and controlled locally and regionally, respect for greenfield land and global justice based on diplomacy and mutual respect.
