VOLUNTEERS got their hands dirty in a bid to spruce up a city park. The Friends of Freemantle Lake Park gave the colourful shelter a new lease of life in preparation for an event this coming weekend.
The Great Get Together is part of a national event aimed at helping members of the community spend time together.
It was set up in memory of murdered Yorkshire MP Jo Cox.
Volunteer Charlotte Ndupuechi said: "It was so nice to see people coming together and working hard to make a difference.”
Paint was supplied by Southampton City Council and brushes and rollers by Brewers.
The Great Get Together takes place on June 23 from 1-4pm.
