A MAN went to the aid of a friend after a scuffle began outside a Hampshire restaurant.
Telesales worker Adam Redman ended up throwing a punch and was arrested for his part in the brawl in which two men were hurt.
Redman, 21, of South Front, Romsey, admitted affray and was handed an 18-month community order.
Tim Fairley, prosecuting, prosecuting, told Southampton Crown Court that the scuffle broke out beside the Tokyo Milan restaurant, pictured, in Salisbury Street, Southampton, in April last year.
He added: “The defendant was not involved in the initial altercation but believed his friend was in need of assistance.”
Richard Martin, defending, added: “He was not the instigator.
“When he spotted that his friend appeared to be in trouble his first instinct was not to lash out with a punch but with a push.
“He was then confronted by another man and struck him once.”
