DAREDEVILS are firing themselves up to walk over hot coals to raise money for Wessex Cancer Trust in Southampton Guildhall Square on Friday, April 27.

After a full safety briefing, the 21 walkers will be led over ten metres of coals heated to 1200°F (648°C) by certified instructors UK Firewalk.

Local drumming band Batala Portsmouth will be heating up the atmosphere with their authentic Samba Reggae music, and Nando’s are rewarding all the walkers with flame-grilled fare after the event.

Rachel Coombs, Events Manager at Wessex Cancer Trust, said: "This is an adrenaline-fuelled event which will be an unforgettable experience for all the walkers.

"It requires an open mind and the determination to take up the challenge so we’re incredibly grateful to those who have signed up to raise money for people living with cancer in our local area."

Registration remains open for the event until Friday and costs £30 with a sponsorship goal of £100.
