A MAN was found “lying in a lot of blood” after a late-night incident in Southampton.

Hampshire Constabulary rushed to help an injured man who was found at the Lodge Road and Earls Road junction at around 12.30am on Sunday, April 15.

The force said that the man was taken to Southampton General Hospital and it was established this was a result of a medical issue.

They added that no further police action was required.

One witness said that the man was “lying in a lot of blood”.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 12.18am on April 15 regarding a patient who had suffered a serious medical emergency at the junction of Earls Road/Lodge Road.

"It was initially thought this could have been a serious assault but our incident notes confirm it was a medical emergency.

"We sent a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic team leader and an ambulance to the scene and the patient was taken to University Hospital Southampton following initial treatment."
