A BIKE 'speed dating' session is set to take place in Hampshire.

Southampton City Council and AFC Totton will team up for the event, which will take place as part of the club's Activities Taster Day on Wednesday, March 28.

The cycle speed dating session, run by My Journey, the sustainable travel brand of Hampshire and Southampton City Council, will include a number of bikes for people to trial.

It will allow riders to have fun in a safe, controlled environment.

There will also be family challenges to take part in for a chance to win prize from My Journey.

The event, supported by New Forest inclusive cycling company, PedALL, is part of My Journey's newly launched ‘Get Cycle Savvy’ campaign.

The scheme aims to inspire more people to feel confident in making every day journeys by bike.

Pete Boustred, Service Manager for Strategic Transport at Southampton City Council says: “My Journey are thrilled to be a part of the Activities Taster Day, to help reinforce that cycling is for everyone – and it offers so many benefits, both for yourself and the wider community."

The AFC Totton Activity Taster Day will take place from 10.30am to 4pm at Testwood Stadium, in Salisbury Road, Totton.
