ORGANISERS of the New Forest Show have revealed they are making “drastic changes” after visitors complained it is the same year on year.

A survey of all advance ticket holders carried out after last year’s show revealed that visitors would like to see a different layout and a review of the attractions offered.

Organisers said they would like to bring a fresh feel to the show but the decision means some people who have been involved with the show for many years have been told they are no longer needed.

Those who run the antiques section have received a letter saying it is not required.

It says: “Following this year’s show we carried out a survey. The results, plus other feedback received, indicates that our visitors feel that the layout of the show and attractions offered needed to be reviewed as people felt that it was the same year on year.

“With this in mind we have looked at the plan of the show and have made some drastic changes to the layout to try to introduce some new features which we hope will add a new fresh feel to the show.

“Unfortunately this does not come without a price and following lengthy discussions at recent Policy and Management Committee meetings, it is with regret that we must inform you that we will be unable to offer space for the antiques section at the 2018 New Forest and Hampshire County Show.”

The letter said the decision has not been taken lightly and said space for individual stall holders may be available in the show’s shopping pavilions.

The show, due to be held this year on July 24, 25 and 26, is held at New Park in Brockenhurst and regularly attracts around 100,000 visitors over three days.

It usually has two main arenas featuring a variety of entertainment, crafts, produce, animals and vintage agricultural vehicles.

This year's main ring attraction is Atkinson Action Horses, a fearless team of stunt riders who have recently featured in Poldark, Victoria, Peaky Blinders and The Living Dead.
