TWO pensioners in their mid-90s were treated for smoke inhalation after a house fire in Hampshire.
The blaze broke out at a property in Lockerley Close, Lymington, just before 7am today.
Crews from Lymington Fire Station attended the incident, which began when a faulty electric blanket set fire to the couple's spare mattress.
The pair were alerted to the fire by a smoke alarm and went down stairs to get away from the blaze.
A Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said crews later "led” the couple out of the property.
She added that as a precaution they were being treated for possible smoke inhalation.
However the pair did not need hospital treatment and are said to be safely back in their home.
A firefighter at the scene said the pair were "very shocked" by the incident.
