THE latest plans for a bus expressway in Gosport are to go on display next month. Residents will be able to find out more about the Eclipse Busway on May 10. Taking place from 1.30pm to 7pm in the Martin Ramsey Suite at Bridgemary School, updates will include visual plans. Locals will also be able to pose questions to Hampshire County Council staff. The 1km busway extension will run south from the Tichborne Way/Hutfield Link to form a new junction with Rowner Road, maintaining the existing shared-use footway and cycleway. The first part of the Eclipse Busway, completed in 2012, provides a priority public transport route connecting Fareham to Gosport. The Eclipse Busway forms part of a wider package of transport initiatives designed to improve access to Fareham and Gosport, and the Solent Enterprise Zone. Hampshire County Council says the scheme aims to provide easy access to key destinations to encourage more people to try the bus, and contribute to improved air quality in the area by reducing traffic on the local road network.
