POLICE are probing a spate of thefts from cars in Eastleigh and Chandlers Ford.

Officers say items including iPods, cash and a purse were stolen from several cars in the area.

The incidents all took place between 5pm on Friday, June 15 and the morning of Saturday, June 16.

Police say there were six reported incidents, two of which took place on Western Road.

A quantity of cash was stolen from an Audi, while the glove box of a Toyota was searched but nothing taken.

A further two vehicles were targeted on Archers Road.

Two iPods, a purse, cash and CDs were stolen from a Nissan Qashqai and cash, scratch cards and medication was stolen from a Ford C Max.

At 2.30am a witness saw a man trying to gain entry to a Nissan Qashqai parked on Arnold Road.

The offender made off empty handed.

A works vehicle was targeted when it was parked in Tamin Court, Bournemouth Road, Chandlers ford and a large quantity of power tools were taken including two power saws, two Bosch drills and a Hilti breaker.

PC Robert Thomas, said: “We’re urging residents not to leave cash and valuables in their vehicles. As always, we would urge anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity to call police immediately.

“A series of garage breaks also occurred at the same time in the Chandlers Ford area. At this time there is no clear link between the two series’, however, we are keeping an open mind and will follow all lines of enquiry.
