THE date of next year's Eastleigh 10k has been revealed.

Organisers of the largest 10k in Hampshire have confirmed that the event will be run again on March 24, 2019.

This comes after thousands of runners paved the streets of Eastleigh on Sunday to take part in the 34th Eastleigh 10k.

As previously reported, the event which is usually run in March, was due to take place on March 18 this year but it was snowed off.

Insead of cancel it, organisers decided to re-arrange it and said it was definitively the right the decision as more than 2,000 runners from across the country flocked to Eastleigh to take part.

But race organiser Steve Collins said the event will now be back in March as usual.

Mr Collins said this year the event was more popular than ever and organisers will consider plans to add extra spaces next year.

"We'll have to sit down with the sponsor and talk about it. We have a waiting list of 200 people. We want to make sure everyone enjoys the event,"he said.

The Eastleigh 10K, which is sponsored by Hendy, is renowned as a fast, flat course ideal for both experienced runners and beginners, and is an opportunity to record personal and season-best times.

Each year hundreds of children also enjoy the 2k fun run which takes palace on the same day of the 10k.

This year for the first time the event took place at Places Leisure Eastleigh, the new multi-million pound leisure centre.

This year's race was won by John Beattie in 30mins 31sec.
