A BISHOPSTOKE pre-school is celebrating a “fantastic” achievement.

Bishopstoke Pre-School, on Fair Oak Road, was rated ‘good’ by Ofsted inspectors.

They praised the “dedicated” management team and the way children are challenged and supported.

Inspectors said staff members know their children well and added: “They are particularly skilled in supporting those children who are less confident, to help all children feel safe and secure and to settle happily.

“All children, including those who have special educational needs (SEN), receive positive support to help them make good progress.”

Ofsted also found there were some areas that needed to be improved.

Inspectors said the school should gather more detailed information from parents about children’s learning and abilities on entry, to inform initial planning and promote their rapid progress from the outset.

According to the report, staff members should also strengthen the organisation of group activities to encourage the participation of all children, help them to maintain their interest and enable them to gain as much as possible from the learning opportunities.

Will Towgood, 42, from Hedge End, is the pre-school owner; he founded it in 2015.

He said: “This achievement is fantastic. It really shows the commitment of the staff. This is not a job, it’s a vocation and the staff is the secret to doing a great job, because you got to be passionate about what you do.”
