Hythe Zimmerzones 52, Thornden 70
Thornden started off their new campaign in Solent Men's League Div. 3 against the experienced and well organised Hythe Zimmerzones in what turned out to be a scrappy affair.
Thornden started brightly with Ollie Marsh finding his range early on, scoring two three pointers in quick succession and Martin Clarke dominating the offensive rebounds. However this good form was short-lived as Thornden were outplayed and conceded points on the break, reducing their lead at half time to ten points.
The second half carried on in the same vein with Thornden giving away silly baskets, but Marsh and Clarke had too much firepower at the other end.
The biggest cheer of the night came in the final quarter when debutant Ryan Squires chalked up a long range jump shot to score his first-ever Thornden points.
