The police dashcam footage formed part of the Crown Prosecution Service’s case against prolific offender Callum Hickman, from Southampton.
As previously reported, the 26-year-old, who has more than 120 previous offences to his name, took police on a perilous pursuit along a main Isle of Wight route – driving a car he bought the very same day.
He was charged with, and indicated a guilty plea in respect of, driving dangerously, on Medina Way in Newport, on August 4 last year.
The court heard Hickman, who was driving a Citroen C3, refused to stop for police, resulting in a prolonged pursuit.
The shocking dashcam footage shows him overtaking cars while police give chase, driving in the middle of the road and on the wrong side of the road at times, eventually going out of sight.
The court heard numerous members of the public reported the manner of his driving to police.
