Bangladeshis in Southampton have gathered to raise concerns over their homeland's political situation.

Around 50 people performed an ensemble of Bangladesh's national anthem in Guildhall Square in recent days.

The event was aimed at expressing concern over the current political situation in Bangladesh and calling on the caretaker government to end the unlawful actions of "fanatic, anti-liberation forces."

Dr Sarwar Jamil, Motiur Rahman, and Shamim Mia delivered short speeches, while local councillor Steven Galton, a shadow cabinet member of the Conservative Party, showed his support.

The participants urged for the restoration of law and order, democracy, and protection of fundamental rights.

They condemned the harassment and unjust arrest of political leaders and journalists without due process or legitimate allegations.

The gathering concluded with a collective call for the caretaker government to take immediate steps to restore peace, democracy, and justice in Bangladesh.

The event was organised by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) UK.
