One Southampton resident who walked past the scene of the crash said: "I'm not quite sure what happens it does look like a nasty crash.

"The issue is that drivers come tearing down Bitterne Road West and crashes like this are not uncommon. 

"I hope that everyone involved is safe and well."

The city council has confirmed that the road is now back open and the crash has been cleared.

Traffic is currently coping well on Bitterne Road West, with only one lane open on each carriageway to allow drivers to past through the area of the crash.

A spokesperson for the police said: "We were called at 10.22am to a collision involving two cars on Quayside Road. No injuries have been reported."

Hampshire Police has confirmed that no injuries were reported in the crash.
