Music-loving residents at an Eastleigh care home predict Lewis Capaldi's 'Wish You The Best' will scoop 'Song of The Year' at The BRITS 2024.

Residents at Alston House Care Home evaluated all ten nominated tracks, rating them as a 'hit' or 'miss'. The group were unimpressed with offerings from Central Cee, PinkPantheress, and Rudimental, however, the residents were captivated by Capaldi's song.

Maz Watson, aged 84, said: “Lewis Capaldi’s song has such a sad video, but it’s very effective and moving. I think it’s much better than the rest of the songs."

Meanwhile, Dudy Cunningham, aged 90, said: “I really enjoyed the video, and the song was pleasant.”

During the fun-filled morning, residents viewed music videos from the 10 nominations, including Venbee & Goddard and RAYE ft 070 Shake.

Resident Val Weatherald, aged 85, said: "I now understand my mother when she used to say this music is rubbish and noise when I used to listen to rock n’ roll. Now I am saying the same for the music today, rubbish and noise!"

Fellow resident Ruth Geary, age 80, who is a big fan of rap music and loves Eminem, added: "Rock n’ roll was the best thanks to its rhythm, good lyrics and memorable music.

"I did enjoy some of the rap songs nominated for the BRIT Award, even though I wasn’t keen on some of the lyrics."

They declared Dua Lipa's 'Dance The Night' their second favourite 'hit'.

Alston House’s wellbeing coach Lidia Nikolova Gjorgjieva said: “We had such fun as the residents channelled their inner Simon Cowell to judge these songs.

“They were very strict, and the facial expressions they pulled to some of the songs were priceless. It was hilarious to see them react and then hear their verdicts.

“Lewis Capaldi should feel very confident going into the ceremony on Saturday because if he can win over the Alston House judging panel, he should be going home with that trophy!"

The Brit Awards will be held tonight at The O2 Arena.
