Dozens of pharmacies will be open across Southampton over the festive period to continue to offer services and advice.

The opening times cover Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day and can be found here.

Residents are also being reminded to order their repeat prescriptions as soon as possible if their usual medicines will run out over the Christmas or New Year period.

Pharmacies are only listed if they have notified NHS England that they will be open and the opening times vary for some pharmacies.

It can take four or five working days for their request to be received by the NHS.

Dr Lara Alloway, Chief Medical Officer for the NHS Hampshire Integrated Care Board, said: “We would ask people who may need to order repeat prescriptions to please submit them in good time, and not leave them to the last minute.

“As well as being an invaluable High Street resource, pharmacies of course offer expert advice about over-the-counter medicines to treat common health conditions, as well as information on medication and a range of other services.

“There are lots of coughs and seasonal ailments doing the rounds at present and pharmacists offer a fast and convenient service.

“Your pharmacist is also trained to advise you if you need to see a GP, nurse or other healthcare professional.

“We are also asking anyone who is worried about their medicines to arrange a medication review with your practice pharmacist, nurse or doctor in the New Year.

“It is important to make sure you are taking the right medication at the right dose and that you are getting the best out of those medicines.”

The opening times are subject to change.
