A patriotic weekend celebrating the military might of Britain's bygone years enthralled revellers at Lee-on-the-Solent.

The Lee Victory Festival ran from September 22 to 24 and featured a military parade including aircraft, land vehicles and boats from World War Two.

Much of the event was hosted at Solent Airport.

When plans for the event were finalised earlier this year, Councillor Sean Woodward, leader of the council, said: "Fareham Borough Council is proud to be supporting Lee Victory Festival by hosting a major part of the event at Solent Airport.

"The iconic airfield, its aircraft and its crews played such a decisive role in D- Day that it is natural to include it in the festival.

"The armed forces are a huge part of our communities and it is right that we celebrate their contribution in this way. It is also good to share an event between Fareham and Gosport, both proud towns steeped in military history."

Crafts, food and drinks stalls, a funfair and live music were also on offer.

According to organisers, the event's aim was to 'celebrate our nation’s military achievements and sacrifice'.

Members of the Daily Echo's Camera Club were in attendance, and shared several photos in the club's Facebook group.
