A HAMPSHIRE marine electronics company is showcasing its products at this year's Southampton International Boat Show - dubbed Britain's biggest festival of boating and watersports.

Visitors to Raymarine's stand in Ocean Hall will be among the first to learn about a raft of new equipment designed for cruising and performance sailors.

Raymarine staff will be joined by the company's newest ambassador - adventurer, explorer and marine conservationist Monty Halls.

The 56-year-old will be joined by his wife Tamsyn, their daughters Isla and Molly, and their golden retriever Luna.

The long voyage is set to shine a spotlight on the progress being made across the UK, from groundbreaking technologies designed to combat microplastics to powerful mass actions that have galvanized communities.

Monty said: "We are all aware of the tectonic changes in our marine environment.

"For us in the UK, where it is impossible to live more than 70 miles from the coast, these will have a profound impact on our way of life. But there's no point in relentlessly hammering this message home.

"I feel there is already solid public awareness of the issues and a desire to become involved in possible solutions.

"Sea Change will not just explore the issues, it will also conduct lectures and events with schools wherever we land, celebrate community conservation efforts, and hopefully inspire a new generation of biologists and conservationists."

Based at Cartwright Drive in Fareham, Raymarine was established more than 80 years ago.
