Redbridge has a total of 12 candidates standing from six parties.

The breakdown is three Labour, three Conservative, three Liberal Democrat, one Green, one TUSC and one Reform UK.

If no statement was received the candidate has “no comment” under their name.

You can find a list of all the candidates standing in each ward here.

Here is what the candidates are saying:

Tom Bell – Conservatives

“Tom served as a committed Southampton City Councillor from 2018 to 2022. During that time, he successfully campaigned for increased investment in roads, pavements and other public spaces in his ward. He fought hard to ensure local taxpayers get better value for money and took care to listen to local residents to ensure their priorities are his priorities. A vote for Tom is a vote to give Redbridge a boost. It’s time to level-up our roads, stop Labour switching off the lights at night, and invest in the local community.”

John Peter Edwards – Reform UK

“I am standing in Redbridge ward because most people are fed up with both Labour and Conservative parties and so do not bother to vote. This is because nothing changes in Redbridge Ward, while Labour pursues failed city of culture bids. Redbridge ward neighbourhoods are neglected in favour of anti-motorist measures and the closing off of residential and shopping areas across the city. I will be demanding the council makes greater efforts to attract new business and employment opportunities to make Southampton a great place to live and work again.”

Sally Victoria Goodfellow – Labour

“Passionate about making a difference in my community, I work for the NHS in A&E and serve as a school governor for a local primary school. My priority is providing good quality education and giving local children the opportunity to thrive.”

Amanda Guest – Conservatives

“Amanda Guest is best known in Southampton as a hardened campaigner saving Kentish Road Respite Centre from closure for vulnerable adults.

Having lived in Redbridge Ward for over a decade, raised a family, used local schools, and a regular church member, Amanda has strong ties locally.

Many of you who have met Amanda will know she has a daughter with a learning disability, her goal will be to support and champion those most vulnerable in society who feel they are not being listened to, bringing a positive change to the residents across the Redbridge community, whilst standing up for the area.”

Max Dylan Hayman – Liberal Democrats

Christopher Richard James – Greens

“I support the Green Party because I believe they are the best, if not the only, party to actually run this country for the benefit of everyone and not just for the sake of being in power. I want to prioritise education and the national health service as I think that a healthy and well educated population is what is needed to address all the other issues in our society.”

Andrea Matteucci – Liberal Democrats

Cathie McEwing – Labour

“I became involved in politics through my trade union in 1988. Since then I have worked hard for my community in Redbridge, Millbrook and Maybush and helped with many challenges in the area. I promise to keep working hard for everyone on issues that concern us the most.”

David Austin Peter Smith – Conservatives

“David Smith is a dedicated community activist and a proud resident of the local area for over 25 years. A parent, local business owner and armed forces veteran, David understands the issues that matter most to families, local businesses and the veteran’s community. He is passionate about creating a safer community with better services, including improved roads and public transport. He believes in transparency, accountability, and collaborative decision-making and is committed to listening to the needs of Redbridge residents. David is running for local council to make a positive impact and ensure that the voices of the community are heard.”

Simon David Stokes – Liberal Democrats

Lee Keith Whitbread – Labour

“I grew up in Cuckmere Lane and I still live locally. So I understand issues in the community, from tackling anti-social motorbikes to flytipping. I will fight to have money spent locally unlike the Conservatives who wanted to spend £250,000 resurfacing a private road in Bassett.”

Peter Michael Wyatt – Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition
