SIR: Civic chiefs missed a great opportunity to revamp the River Park Leisure Centre.

Instead of spending thousands of pounds on building a new centre in Bar End they could have expanded River Park which is in an ideal situation. It is in an easily accessible situation from every side of the city, either by bicycle, bus, car or footpath, whereas Bar End is on a busy road. I wouldn’t feel safe cycling along there. River Park is next to an open park. They could have built an outdoor pool next to the present one. Where my daughter lives in Hitchin there is a lovely indoor and adjoining outdoor pool next to a park. In the summer it is a lovely place to take the family. It is too late now to make these changes I expect. We have to put up with what the Civic Chiefs want.
