BANANA Wharf will not reopen its restaurant on Poole Quay this summer.

Managers have revealed it will remain closed although its sites in Southampton and Hamble are re-opening today.

They said Poole is "affected by seasonality" and re-opening this year is not viable.

In a post on Facebook, the company said: "After much consideration we have made the difficult decision not to reopen Banana Wharf Poole this summer.

"This decision has been made with a heavy heart as we desperately want to reopen our doors and welcome our customers back.

"Banana Wharf Poole is affected by seasonality and with the enforced Covid closure taking place at the beginning of the season it is not viable to reopen from July."

It said Southampton and Hamble are re-opening due to a "stronger off season" ensuring the company has the best chance of surviving the impact of reduced capacity.

It added: "We would like to thank you for your support and understanding while we have tried to navigate through this incredibly difficult time for our industry."
