AN APPEAL has been launched to trace a cyclist who swerved out the way of a dangerous driver during a police chase.

A cyclist swerved to avoid what is believed to be a dark Audi saloon just after midnight on Friday, May 29.

The incident happened on Port Lane, Hursley during a police chase.

The cyclist is described as a white male, thought to be his 20s with short dark hair and stubble or a beard.

He was last seen walking with his bike south through Hursley, on the A3090 near The Dolphin Inn at around 12.20am.

A police spokesperson said: "We are hoping to trace a cyclist who witnessed some dangerous driving by a vehicle that was being pursued by officers in Hursley on May 29 a short time after midnight."

"The cyclist had to take evasive action on Port Lane at around 12.10am when the vehicle, a dark saloon, possibly an Audi, drove past him."

"Unfortunately officers were unable to take his details due to the ongoing pursuit but they would like to speak to him about what he saw."
