PERMISSION has been given for a bungalow off Front Street, Portesham, to replace a mobile home.
Councillors were told that although the site is in the village conservation area and close to the listed Trafalgar House, the three-bed single storey home would be mainly hidden from view.
Parish councillors said they could not support the new home on the proposed site, south east of the mobile home, and would prefer one of two alternative sites which would bring the new building into the village defined development boundary.
The proposed bungalow would have timber walls with green upvc windows and an synthetic slate roof. Councillors were told that there is a dispute over ownership of the land but the council’s legal officer said the application could be decided and the Land Registry entry showed ‘an appropriate ownership.”
A report to the committee said: “The applicant's agent has confirmed the correct certificate has been included with the planning application, as such all other matters of ownership and rights are private matters.”
The online Dorset Council area planning committee heard that there had been one letter of support for the proposed home claiming that there would be limited impact on the area and it would be better than a mobile home in full view of the road.
