PLANS to refurbish a Hampshire pavilion at a cost of £180,000 have been given the go-ahead.

Members of Fordingbridge Town Council voted unanimously to proceed with proposals to upgrade the pavilion, which occupies part of the main recreation ground.

The new mayor, Cllr Edward Hale, stressed the importance of moving forward with the scheme.

Cllr Malcolm Adams said it was probably the last time funds would be available for the project, adding: "It is going to go indefinitely if we don't do it now.

"I would like us to go ahead and put every effort in to get it done for the present generation."

Cllr Pete White added: "This is a really good opportunity for Fordingbridge Town Council to actually give something back to the town and I think it would be really well received."
