A HAMPSHIRE band is hoping its planning application will strike a chord with civic chiefs.
Members of the Hyde Band have applied for permission to build a single-storey rehearsal room and music library on land next to Newtown Honey Farm in Newtown Lane, Mockbeggar.
The application says: "The band is in need of a permanent base for rehearsals as it can ill afford to rent rooms in the area.
"The band has actively been seeking a building which might be acceptable, is acceptable to the neighbours and is in accordance with planning policies.
"The band owns the land, which was bequeathed to it many years ago. It would enjoy the ownership and use of the building but, subject to planning conditions, it could be made available to other low-key groups with a musical background."
The application will be determined by the New Forest National Park Authority.
