A FOUR acre bushland fire took place in Gosport last night.

Firefighters rushed to Privett Road in Gosport at around 4.29am last night after receiving reports that a large section of bushland was on fire.

Four fire crews from Gosport and Fareham Fire Stations attended, along with two water carrier crews from Eastleigh, a Landrover from Lyndhurst and a support pump crew from Portchester.

It took eight hose reel jets to extinguish the fire, in which no one was injured.

Crews took around two hours to put out the flames, leaving at 6.24am.

While the cause of the fire is unknown, firefighters did not believe the incident was suspicious and police were not called to attend.
