A FORMER charity shop in the centre of New Milton could become a hot food takeaway.
Papa John's (GB) Ltd has applied for planning permission to turn the old Marie Curie store in Station Road into a pizza outlet.
Proposals have been submitted to New Forest District Council.
The council's initial assessment of the scheme says: "The main issues are the principle of the proposal, the effect on the character and appearance of the area and the effect on the living conditions of the neighbouring properties.
"The premises have been empty for some time and have been marketed as a shop, without success.
"The use of the premises as a takeaway is not considered to undermine the vitality and appearance of the shopping centre.
"Proposed changes to the shopfront are minor and would be acceptable at this location. The biggest impact will be from the proposed flue."
Anyone wishing to comment on the application must contact the council by May 29.
