For better or worse' That was what Fred and Dorrie Heather, both aged 85, promised each other when they said their wedding vows at St James Church in Shirley, Southampton, back in 1941.
Today they continue to enjoy a happy marriage.
That is why Dorrie has nominated Fred for the Daily Echo Carer of the Year Award.
Every day he looks after Dorrie, who suffers with arthritis, and who has also had two hip replacements and a stroke.
Greatest' She said: "My husband also has health problems, but he is the greatest carer.
"Not only does he look after me, but he does the shopping, cooking, washing, ironing and other household chores - and still finds time to take me out.
"He also takes me on holiday, which is a lot of extra work for him.
"He is very conscientious in all he does, and that is why I nominate him Carer of the Year."
The couple spent many years together in Southampton's Scout movement, with Mr Heather becoming a senior Scout leader and Rover Scout.
Mrs Heather accompanied him on Cub camps and was well-known for cooking up her very own tasty puddings.
The couple have also enjoyed many excursions with the Camping and Caravanning Club.
Mr Heather, who worked as a power station turbine driver before being employed by the General Post Office, has also contributed to the Daily Echo Spitfire campaign by designing his own memorial.
