AN appeal has been lodged after civic chiefs rejected plans for a "bulky" extension to a block of flats in Holbury.
New Forest District Council refused to support an application relating to Walton Court, which is next to a set of crossroads at Renda Road and Waltons Avenue.
The applicant, Clive Wingfield, had sought consent to create a two-bedroom home by adding an extension to the existing building.
Outlining its reasons for rejecting the proposal the council said the "large and bulky" addition would project too far.
It added: "The proposal, if permitted, is likely to increase on-street parking and create hazardous traffic movements with vehicles backing out onto the road near a busy crossroads."
But Mr Wingfield denied the scheme would harm the character of the area.He also said it "can preserve highway safety".
