MANY people can no longer attend jobs or fulfill their dreams during the lockdown - but that has not stopped one 13-year-old from Chandler's Ford.

Singing his way through the lockdown with his friends across the country, teenager Sam Head has joined forces with his actor friends to thank the NHS and spread a message of "hope and love".

Having each faced cancelled acting roles due to coronavirus, he has now sung in a virtual music video singing to British rock band Coldplay's Fix You with help from other young people aged between six and 15.

They decided to unite and form an online choir called Virtually Together Kids Choir and filmed themselves singing along to the tune in their own homes.

Sam, a pupil at Toynbee School, Chandler's Ford, said: "My friends and I wanted to do something to say thank you to the NHS.

"We thought creating a virtual choir would keep us in contact whilst making people happy. It’s been a lot of fun and I’m loving being a part of it."

Sam had a documentary lined up with Southampton University Students whilst some of the other children had short films and TV appearances cancelled.

He has also missed out on the Toynbee Beauty and the Beast production, which is hoping to be rescheduled.

Sam's father Jonathan Head and his bandmates from Hampshire covers band Random Cow produced the music, whilst local sound engineer Matt Glasspool from MGAP Audio Production helped to make the video.

The video has been shared nearly 35,000 times on Twitter as well as thousands of times on other social media platforms, including over 1,000 views on video site Youtube.

Sam's mum Nicky, 37, said: "I’m extremely proud of all the children involved with the video.

"When most children would just be content with their Xbox, these kids decided to use their talents in order to raise a smile and create a feeling of hope. When I saw the end result I burst into tears, it’s an incredibly moving video."
