WINCHESTER Cathedral is keeping close tabs on its financial situation after the lockdown stopped a a major source of income.
The cathedral, which receives little state funding, has seen its revenue from visitors completely dry up.
The Chronicle asked about the impact on finances and the cathedral responded with a brief statement: “Winchester Cathedral is adhering fully to all the Government restrictions on movement of people. In that context, the cathedral building, the shop and the refectory are all closed until further notice.
“Clearly, this will have an on-going impact on the cathedral’s finances. Chapter is meeting regularly to assess the situation as it develops day by day and to plan accordingly.”
