LYMINGTON'S weekly street market has been cancelled until further notice following the coronavirus outbreak.
The historic market, which dates from the 13th century, is normally held in the High Street every Saturday and attracts hundreds of bargain-hunters to the town.
But the popular attraction has fallen victim to social distancing rules.
The market was held on March 21, before the rules were tightened, although at-risk traders were told to stay away. However, the market did not go ahead on March 28 and Lymington and Pennington Council has now confirmed that the stalls will not return for the time being.
In a statement the council had traders had been informed and pitch fees waived.
