A MAN was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and other offences after a police chase in Southampton.

Residents say the incident involved up to ten police vehicles and ended the suspect vehicle crashing into Samuels bar in John Thornycroft Road, Woolston, Southampton.

One resident said: “I heard a massive thump at about 12am. A car went straight into the wall."

Another householder said the driver fled on foot but was caught after a chase involving officers with dogs.

A police spokesman said a "short pursuit" ended with a 22-year-old Southampton man being arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, driving while unfit through drugs and driving dangerously.
