People may also travel to and from work "where absolutely necessary".
Southampton's usually busy streets are now deserted following the measures which were announced on March 23.
With most employees now working from home the pavements are empty and there are far fewer cars on the roads.
The PM has ordered all shops selling non-essential goods to close.
Meanwhile, the Government has said that every citizen must comply with the new measures.
Police now have the powers to enforce these "through fines and dispersing gatherings where people do not comply".
Supermarkets have restricted the number of shoppers entering at one time, Boris Johnson is still showing signs of coronavirus, Downing Street has said.
However, he will end his seven days of self-isolation end on Friday but it is unclear whether he plans to leave the Downing Street flat where he has been staying.
It comes as 2,961 people were confirmed to have died in hospital after testing positive for coronavirus in the UK as of 5pm on Wednesday.
The youngest person who died without underlying health conditions was aged 25.
