A SOUTHAMPTON nurse's car was smashed with rocks while she completed a 13 hour shift in A&E.

On April 1, a nurse, understood to be a senior sister in A&E at the University Hospital Southampton, returned to her car on Tremona Road after a 13 hour shift.

She arrived to find that the back right-hand window had been completely shattered after an unknown offender reportedly struck the windows with rocks.

A witness reported the incident to police and told officers that a man on a bike was looking into the car window before smashing it with rocks.

The incident is said to have happened between 4.30pm and 4.40pm.

It is not known if any items where stolen from her vehicle.

Now, police are appealing for the public to come forward with any information they may have on the incident.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Police said: "We have received a report that between 4.30pm and 4.40pm yesterday (1 April) a car was broken into on Tremona Road.

"A man on a bike was seen looking into the car window before smashing it with rocks.

"If anyone witnessed anything or has any information please call us on 101 quoting 44200118152."

It comes just days after a Southampton emergency department senior sister was racially abused and threatened by a group of teenagers as she walked home from a 12 hour shift on Monday, March 23.

The nurse, who has asked not to be named and is from the Philippines, was told “you brought coronavirus to our country”, “go home to China”, and “you’re awful”.
