IT was won by the thinnest of margins as Mark Harris and Robert Wise battled it out in a magnificent two-horse race.

With just one kilometre left in the Draper Tools Eastleigh 10k on March 18, 1990, Wise managed to put three yards of daylight between himself and Harris.

But with the line in sight Harris's tremendous burst was just not enough as Wise got the nod by the thinnest of margins.

It was more than 40 seconds before the third man, Nick Trainer came home.

Patricia Card was the first home of the women over-45 veterans.
