A CRASH on a Hampshire main road has left a 58-year-old man with serious injuries.

An air ambulance attended the scene outside the golf course in Poles Lane - the main route between Hursley and Otterbourne.

Police were called at around 12.30pm after the collision, which involved a blue New Holland tractor and a red MGB sports car.

The driver of the sports car was taken to Southampton General Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the tractor was uninjured.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: "We believe a small dark coloured vehicle overtook the tractor just prior to the collision, heading towards Hursley.

"Officers making enquiries into the exact circumstances of the collision are keen to speak to the driver of the small dark coloured vehicle.

"Were you in the area at the time? Did you see what happened? Maybe you have a dash cam in your car which captured the incident?"

Anyone with information should call 101, quoting 44200113292.

Earlier this afternoon, Hants Roads Policing tweeted: "Currently dealing with a serious RTC on Poles Lane in Otterboune.

"Us, Hampshire Fire, South Central Ambulance Service and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance, who are all present can't social distance under these circumstances, so please unless your journey is essential as defined by the Government guidance, #stayathomesavelives."

Hursley Road was blocked earlier today due a fallen tree.
