A DRUG driver who stole a bottle of champagne has been jailed.
Gareth Roy George Cross, 43, was caught drug driving with benzoylecgonine - a breakdown product of cocaine - in his blood on Portsmouth Road, Southampton, on September 25.
On March 17, Cross stole one bottle of Bollinger champagne worth £45 from Waitrose in Chandler’s Ford.
He pleaded guilty to one charge of drug driving and one charge of theft At Southampton Magistrates’ Court.
Cross, of Garretts Close, Southampton, was committed to prison for six weeks and disqualified from driving for 60 months.
He also ordered to pay £122 victim surcharge and £85 court costs. He was also handed a conditional discharge for the theft offence.
