A HAMPSHIRE man threatened and spat at police in an incident "aggravated by alcohol".
Joshua Mark Lockyer assaulted a police officer by beating in Hythe on January 6.
The 24-year-old was then escorted to Southampton Central Police Station where he spat in the face of a detention officer.
The court heard how Lockyer used threats of violence in what was described as "a particularly nasty and very serious protracted incident aggravated by alcohol".
Appearing at Southampton Magistrates' Court, he pleaded guilty to two accounts of assaulting an emergency worker by beating.
Lockyer, of Cosworth Drive, Hythe, was committed to prison for four months suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay compensation of £300.
He was also ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.
Lockyer is also required to pay a £115 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
