SOUTHAMPTON patients are being urged to not call the hospital switchboard.

The University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust switchboard has been receiving a "large number of calls" from patients who are concerned about their appointments.

The Trust is assuring all patients that if they have not heard from the hospital then their appointment will still be going ahead.

If patients cannot attend their scheduled appointment then the hospital will endeavour to call you at the date and time of your appointment.

A spokesperson for University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust said: “Our switchboard is currently receiving a large number of calls from patients concerning their appointments.

"We are currently in the process of contacting all patients with upcoming appointments so we would ask you do not call into switchboard.

“If you have a planned appointment and have not heard from us then you should attend unless you hear from us or are self-isolating, following government guidance.

"If you cannot attend we will endeavour to telephone you at the date and time of your appointment.”
