SOUTH Wonston residents will be able to meet the people behind a proposed music festival tomorrow night (March 13).

Suni Phoenix and his two friends, who are seeking Winchester City Council's permission to host a two-day event at Worthy Grove, will be attending a public meeting in the Village Hall from 7pm.

The festival, called Hidden Wonderland, has reportedly caused people in the area to "fall out" on social media, with opinions being divided.

Mr Phoenix was also declared bankrupt on November 29 last year, which has raised questions as to how he can afford to put on a festival. Commenting on the Hampshire Chronicle website, user 'Winchres1' said: "Suni has done a good job of getting the village all to fall out and be sarcastic and nasty on their village Facebook page which was initially set up to look out for one another.

"He was liking all the positive comments and using the laughing emoji at any that were concerned. All got so nasty residents were leaving their village page and the administrator eventually took the comments down .

"His website says tickets selling fast and he said on Facebook that he has sold 4,950 tickets, with staff and freebies he is over his 4,999 capacity and he hasn't got his licence yet."

Mr Phoenix is yet to respond to the Chronicle's latest attempt to contact him, but previously said that he is "absolutely dying" to meet with local residents.

"We have done our absolute best to speak with all the surrounding villages and some of the support has been overwhelming," he added.

"What we want people to realise is this is not Boomtown. We've gone to huge extents to deal with the noise – we are nowhere near the village, are on a tiny site and our sound systems will ensure nearby people won't hear anything.

"It's hard to convey things over the phone so all three of us will be there. We encourage as many as possible to turn up."

If approved, the festival license will allow live music and the consumption of alcohol on-site from 11am on July 10 to 2am the following morning, and from 11am until 3am the following day.

It will have a max capacity of 4,999 and revellers have the option to camp.
