I READ Pauline Fahy's letter knowing she has totally wasted her time.

I have written several times to the Echo and even our Test councillors in our area.

No one is interested unless its student accommodation or banning vehicles from our city.

When holiday makers visit the south to stay especially places like the New Forrest they look for places to visit either during the day or evenings during their stay.

They must be disappointed with the lack of amenities there are in the city centre.

They can stuff themselves silly with food outlets but that is about all.

The total lack of thought by this council and others before it makes a very disappointing place to visit.

They have destroyed everything over the years for the younger generation.

The sports centre is an absolutely disgrace and the paddling pool on the Common was replaced with a pile of sand on the Guildhall Square.

There is nothing provided for the younger generation to burn off steam, just bars and more bars. No promised ice rink ( Which if built properly could have provided Ice hockey and ice shows ), no large leisure centre which could also provide amenities for conferences and shows.

Having these facilities would also attract more visitors into the city to eat and shop.

The thought also of reducing the car parking in the city will cause even more stores shutting down and having vehicles circling around the centre looking for a place to park pumping out even more CO2 and will drive even more people to shop out of the city.

Its time our council took a jolly and visited places like Winchester, Salisbury and Portsmouth to see what they have done to keep the traffic down, they have built Park and ride to attract even more visitors.

Our councils bright idea is " on your bike" or walk.

This council has had plenty of chances to build them in Southampton but decided to ignore the voice of its citizens.

When you decide to do this please make sure you use the bus as you have wasted enough of our money.
